The incident took place around 9 p.m. Thursday when a woman and her 13-year-old daughter were parked in the Community Center parking lot on Huntington Street in Shelton, said Det. Richard Bango.

The woman got out of her vehicle to mail a letter and a green Subaru approached her. A man got out of the Subaru and demanded the woman’s keys and pushed her to the ground. As the woman fell to the ground, her daughter began to scream and the man jumped back in the Subaru and fled the area, Bango said.

A short time later the Shelton Police received a report of a vehicle burglary on Fern Drive with a green Subaru fleeing the scene. A BOLO was sent out to surrounding towns regarding the incident. Within minutes the Trumbull Police Department located the Subaru which had crashed on White Plains Road and one of the occupants was taken into custody, Bango said.

Three other occupants fled on foot. The Subaru was discovered stolen out of Bridgeport. Shelton, Trumbull, Stratford, and Bridgeport police canvassed the area for the three fleeing suspects. The three men were located and taken into custody a short time later, he added.

Those arrested included Antone Grant-Chalmers, 18, of Stratford, a 16-year-old from Bridgeport and a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, both from Stratford.

They were charged with robbery aided by another, robbery by carjacking, assault, criminal attempt/assault reckless endangerment, larceny, criminal attempt/larceny, burglary, criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit/criminal mischief.

The three juveniles were given juvenile summonses and released to their parents. Grant-Chalmers was held on a $25,000 bond.
